GEOGRAPHY:
Geographically,Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior,large tracts of desert and a lengthy coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.It borders the Western Sahara,Algeria and the Spanish North African terrritories of Ceuta and Melilla.
POPULATION:
Ethnically speaking,Morocco is composed mainly of Arabs and Berbers.Berbers live mainly in the country's mountainous regions,areas of refuge where they have preserved their language and culture.Marocco's struggle for independence from France ended in 1956.
ANCIENT MEDINAS:
Morocco's cities are some of the most exciting on the continent:from the winding medina maze of Fez to the carnivalesque street-theatre of the Djemmaa el-Fna in Marrakesh.
